Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one…it’s going to be my first time flying!!! Is there anyone else that hasn’t been on a plane before!? I’m beyond excited but also quite nervous! I’ll be traveling with a pro too, so I feel like I should know more than I do!
Before I was with Max, I had been as far north & east as Quebec City, west as Kitchener and south as Niagara Falls. I had only been to the US once or twice, to Watertown, NY. My boy LOVES traveling and needed to share it with me. Our first big trip was to Bar Harbor, ME and then this past summer we drove down to Richmond, VA to meet my girl, Katelyn James and wandered over to Virginia Beach, VA. That’s now the furthest east and south I’ve been.
Time and time again, I don’t know how many times I’ve told people I want to go down south, somewhere tropical and hot. We could have gone, but Max & I are trying to be responsible adults. We’re busy buying cars and saving for houses. I’m a dreamer, a wisher, I try for a lot of contests – because how do you win if you don’t try? I’ve won concert tickets a couple different times, and even that puts me on cloud 9, because if you know me, live music is bliss to me. That one time I picked up the phone for the cue to call for another concert. In Barbados. Yet it didn’t really seem that big, because I do this stuff all the time. 25 winners to join them in Barbados. 25 in a city of close to 900,000. Everyone’s trying right? The reality didn’t sink in for a long while. I was caller 25, I made it on the short list of 12 qualifiers into the draw for the next morning. 1 in 12, hey, that’s crazy! That’s as far as my mind got. The next morning, I got a ridiculous all from Stuntman Stu pretending to be a Bell Fibe TV guy. I was instantly on air and going to Barbados.
If this was the first and only blog post you’ll ever read, you’d probably think I’m living the dream. I LOVE my job and each and every couple I’ve been blessed to work with. What you don’t see is the many breakdowns and way too much pressure I put on myself. I never want to take anything like this trip for granted ever. I feel like there’s so many more people more deserving. I pray everyone could be blessed with this kind of experience once in their lifetime. I need learn to sometimes to sit back and look at how far I’ve come.
I hope I’m not the kind of person that gets sick. Apparently Stuntman Stu doesn’t either. On air apparently I thought it was a good idea to say I’d never been on a plane before. Stu’s reaction was, “ahhh, I’m not sitting beside you!” Gave everyone a good laugh.
The main thing I am looking forward to is nothing. Yup, I just said that. Both of our trips in the past were 1 week, but Max & I were driving usually 1-8 hours of each day. And the way I’m OCD about planning, there were usually a few disagreements. We will be in 1 spot for 1 week with nowhere to be, nothing we have to do. And in short, we’ve both been through a lot lately and haven’t had a lot of time to focus on “us.” I’m looking forward to just us.
Straight to the point, I’m nervous. I’m excited, but don’t know what to expect. Airplanes have safer statistics than cars, but there’s still those what-ifs. Have you been on a plane before? Gone on a trip like this? I’d love all the advice I can get! Packing, airport security, must-dos, even states of mind to talk yourself!? I’d LOVE your input. I don’t know what to do, and would love all the help I can get.
