Historic downtown richmond engagement session 38

I’ve been waiting to say this for so long!! Since the day we got engaged, and the day Max finally agreed that we could hire Katelyn, it’s my blog day!! On Friday evening, Max and I got in the car an drove all the way to Richmond, Virginia! Well, Virginia Beach to start but you’ll see that blog post on our travels shortly! Originally supposed to go in April, but postponed due to life happenings with baby James, it happened just when it was meant to be.

After a few (too short) days in Virginia Beach to get in what may be our only vacation of the year, we hopped back in the car and drove to Richmond on Monday morning. A little delayed because my man has an ocean problem, I ran into the hotel as fast as I could to get a move on with this crazy mop hair of mine! Worried about humidity, I scurried off to Sephora to have my makeup done.

It is completely not normal to let us have three locations, but they blessed us with that anyway since we drove twelve hours and this photographer had a few visions for things ;) There were a few bumps in the road, but as always, Katelyn works miracles. For any photographers part of KJ All Access (where she shows behind the scenes of her shooting) you’ll see these crazy things since we’re super excited that Michael brought the camera along for us to be a part of that!!

Our first stop was the cutest old historic house with MINT SHUTTERS that Katelyn suggested as she thought it would go perfectly for both our wedding and our brand!! We ran off to Belle Isle, where the water was higher than they said they’d ever seen it – so we couldn’t do the specific on the rocks shots I had imagined, but we made it work! Then last, but certainly not least, Church Hill…the beautiful cobblestone streets atop the cutest old-school industrial part of town.

It was everything I could have imagined and more, they made us feel SO GOOD. I’ve learned everything I know in the realm of photography from this girl, so it was a dream come true. You two are the godliest, most hopeful people and I look up to you for that as well. Absolutely cannot wait for the wedding!!!
