I first met the amazing Michelle VandenBosch when I was exhibiting at Tie The Knot Wedding Show for the first time. Michelle wasn’t actually in it, but had been delivering flowers for someone else at the show. My boyfriend’s amazing mom had actually talked to her and had a vase made for my own booth! Such a sweetie! She does amazing, AMAZING work which is why I asked her to be first in my new blog series of amazing vendor features!!
Michelle has always been a florist and worked from her home studio, but THIS month she opened her own floral design studio. I went to check out Rebel Petal in Manotick on it’s opening day, and I don’t even have words for how perfect it is. Go out of your way to check it out, it’s precious and rocker like her. I asked her to write her heart out so here she is:
“I am constantly amazed by all of the information that is targeted to Bride and Grooms. The visual information must be overwhelming. Pinterest is fantastic to gather ideas and images.
What most couples do not realize is that most of the stunning photographs on
Pinterest are either from Styled shoots or weddings with unlimited budgets. This leads to high expectations when trying to work
with in a more realistic wedding.
I have stunned many brides when I tell them that
wedding backdrop they are showing me would be $10,000 or that this stunning
table centre would be $2000 per table. I love brainstorming with couples to create gorgeous
arrangements for their wedding day. Having a honest conversation
about budget and knowing their style and desires, gives me a rush as a
designer. Focusing on the areas of the wedding that will give
the couple the most visual impact is most important.
Spending a little money on certain items will free up more money to give you
better show where it is important. Creating a bridal bouquet of your dreams is integral for a wedding. This is going to be in the
brides hands in the photograph with your groom forever on your fireplace
mantle. Making sure it is perfect is the only way.
Playing
with fabric and rentals can also help when on a budget. According to a Wedding Florist In Liverpool that I know, lots of drama can be given to a beautiful flower arrangement by placing it high on a pedestal on a table in the centre of the room. Candles are a romantic way of working with a tight budget. Working with our couples to create a wedding
experience that is unique to them and takes their breath away is our goal at Rebel Petal.”
