Natalie + Brian
Natalie + Brian are married after 12 years since their high school sweetheart days. A moment I myself have been waiting for since I started photographing weddings. I went to high school with Brian. I believe we may have had an early science class together, potentially shared our spare block. I knew highly of Natalie and her famous friend group, just a year younger than us. There were 11 of them and they had been attached at the hip since elementary. She could have easily had a bride tribe of 12, but I’m sure she had to draw the line somewhere ;)
They shared a small Cambodian ceremony at their home the day prior with their wedding party and families. They wanted to share the traditional cultural practices of Brian’s family as well.
The morning started with the girls at the Lord Elgin Hotel with her sister, elementary school friends and the moms. Simplistic, elegant details throughout. The boys getting ready at the couple’s home in classic black and bowties. The groomsmen the groom’s brothers and brother-in-law-to-be prior to their Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica wedding.
After sharing a first look with dad, we headed off to the stunning Notre Dame Cathedral Basilica. The priest had a wonderful relaxed feel which was totally what the couple needed to ease nerves. We captured portraits at the National Gallery of Canada followed by dancing the night away at the St. Elias Centre. Although all of our couples tell us to relax and stay a while, this was the first reception where I knew a good majority of the guests and actually stayed to mingle a bit!
It’s been such a blessing watching these two grow together right from the beginning and I’m so honoured that they trusted me with their big day.
