Shooting bridal details is one of my favourite parts to a wedding day! Although not the most significant part of the day, it really helps to get me warmed up creatively! It also allows me to get a good feel for your day, style and colours just by seeing what you’ve laid out for me! Your wedding day is finally here, you’re nervously getting ready with your girls as the clock ticks down for the day to get started!! My biggest recommendation is to hand off your to-do list, to many, this is the maid of honour’s job, but an even better recommendation is a day-of coordinator. Many people don’t know that there are wedding planners that sometimes offer a ay-of only service. This allows for your day to still run flawlessly and let your maid of honour enjoy all the fun too!! Once I arrive, I will start with shooting your bridal details. Then once everyone has their hair and makeup done, it’s time to get you dressed! Here are some tips on making the start of the day stress-free!
Gather details before the morning of! The easiest thing to do is bag everything up so that when I arrive, I don’t have to bother everyone to gather everything! This is also helpful if I need to take your details somewhere other than the bride prep room (if there is better light elsewhere). I ask my brides to gather together: dress, shoes, veil, rings (all 3), any jewellery, garter, invitations (all pieces), perfume, your old new borrowed and blue, bouquets and bouts. A nice wooden hanger for your dress is highly recommended as that will photograph much better than the plastic hangers they come with! It’s also SUPER helpful to incorporate other elements from your day such as ribbon, fabric, etc so that I can style your details in a way that matches the theme of your day!
PS. I LOVE The Mrs Boxes for ring shots!!
Flower delivery location should be your bridal suite! Florals are a big investment for your wedding day so I love including them as much as I can in your details.
And last but not least – probably most important actually – is a bridal suite with great light and a large window. If you want that bright, airy style that’s plastered all over my blog, it can’t be done in a dark room. Natural light!! If that’s not possible, sometimes we’ve even gone out to a large covered porch!!
