I remember the day they got engaged, we had a blast at their engagement session at the cottage, and when they said backyard wedding, they were signing my love language. But even before that, I remember the day I found out they were dating. I thought to myself, “they know each other?!” Little did I know, I really didn’t know their back story. I graduated high school with Kyle; the long, dark, curly-haired kid with all the band t-shirts. Kyle’s locker was across the hall from mine in 7th grade and was my locker neighbour in 8th grade. I remember those middle school classes like it was yesterday, except it was 11 years ago. I never really “knew” Lisa, but I knew her name around the school. Little did I know, Lisa and Kyle had known each other their whole lives. Lisa and Kyle’s parents have been best friends before either of them were born. Kyle, being just 3 years old, visited Lisa in the hospital the day she was born. They grew up side by side at their cottage, and as her dad said during his speech, they really do have more of a foundation than any relationship could possibly have.
It is such a blessing to be at an age span to see my friends getting married, and more-so the honour of photographing them. I love how no one is surprised with what I’m doing in my life and has that faith in my photographing their weddings more than anyone because they’ve seen me in action all of high school. There are almost no photos of me in high school because I was always the one with the camera. Lisa and Kyle, it has been such an amazing time watching and helping you plan little things along the way. Congratulations on the most amazing, intimate day. Can’t wait to see what’s next for you two.
Nice work Nicole! And what a sweet location to have a wedding! x
