Kelly + Roy

I met Kelly and Roy way back in October. They spoke of this navy and blush affair they had been dreaming about at NeXT Restaurant. They were lucky to have friends amid the same stage of the planning process, planning their own wedding beside their friends Kelsey and Kyle! There were some things that they were doing the same, but made a point to try and make substantial differences so that they weren’t holding twin weddings. I was fortunate enough to see a sneak peek into that side as well since my friend Amy was photographing their wedding! I met Kelly, Roy, and their puppy, Hugo, at a beautiful orchard of crab apple blossoms if you remember this gorgeous pink engagement session.

Kelly + Roy met at her parents’ house. She was 17 and he was 21. He was a friend of his step-sister and was hanging out there at the time. Her sister introduced them and that was that. A few years later, they started talking again over Facebook and Roy decided he wanted to ask her out on a date; at first Kelly was reluctant, but they went out and the rest was history. They had been talking almost-annual vacations to Jamaica and that’s where Roy popped the question. She had been planning a surprise dinner there for his birthday, but little did she know, she was the one getting the surprise. They hiked waterfall and visited caves that afternoon and that’s where it happened. Roy asked Kelly to make a wish into the wishing well they had found, obviously she wished that she could have him forever. The moment she said this, he got down on one knee.

Their beautiful day was a fast paced one, but wonderful nonetheless! After a morning of beauty preparations, the two shared a first look at Watson’s Mill in Manotick, before heading to Stittsville with their puppy, Hugo, for their ceremony and reception at NeXT Restaurant. They danced the night away with their family and friends. Congratulations Kelly + Roy!
