Personality Types

Your first thought here may be, personality types!? What does that have to do about wedding photography or wedding planning?! I have ALWAYS been intrigued by all things personality and understanding how people click. Personality types, learning types, zodiac signs, those Disney character tests, you name it. I took a class in high school called Learning Strategies, which told me so much more. The last few months in particular, I have been all about owning who you are and just running a really personal business. Yeah, my Instagram feed isn’t as pretty as the pro’s say you should run it (and maybe how I wish it would look), but you look at it and you see me, as random as it gets. You see a peek into my life and I want my clients to be able to relate to me! There are so many different factors that make up who you are, and how you act, think, decide, feel, everything!

This month’s Rising Tide Society topic is learning about your personality type to help your business run smoothly and how you connect with people. Although I probably won’t be able to go to tonight’s meeting (BECAUSE ITS MY BIRTHDAY TODAY!! :D) I thought I’d throw some ideas out there on how it may effect your wedding planning between you and your spouse! My favourite test is the Myers-Briggs test. It’s probably the most well-known and most defining. I am an INFJ through and through, no matter what test I do, it always comes out the same. This particulate test defines them as The Advocate.

I’m the Advocate

The Advocate personality type is very rare, making up less than one percent of the population, but they nonetheless leave their mark on the world. As members of the Diplomat Role group, Advocates have an inborn sense of idealism and morality, but what sets them apart is that they are not idle dreamers, but people capable of taking concrete steps to realize their goals and make a lasting positive impact.”

I’m an INFJ

INFJ means introvert, intuitive, feeling, judging. Anyone who knows me knows that’s spot on. Strengths defined as creative, insightful, inspiring, conceiving, decisive, determined, passionate, and altruistic. Weaknesses defined as sensitive, private, perfectionistic, needs to have a cause, and can burn out easily. With that much passion, who doesn’t?!

And although some people may not see me as an introvert, many don’t fully know the definition of introvert and extrovert. It isn’t about how much you talk or how outgoing you are, it’s where you get your energy. Extroverts get their energy from being around others while that tires out an introvert. Although more an introvert, I am typically on the fence, known as an ambivert or extroverted introvert.

For anything in life, self-awareness is key! Knowing how to use your strengths and beware of your weaknesses can launch you into success no matter what you’re doing. Knowing how you work and how your fiancĂ© may think differently may help to ease your wedding planning significantly, just by knowing how to approach and suggest things!

Knowing what times you work best, the environment in which you work well, and the relationships you keep can do so much to help your mental health as well. It took me so long to realize some of the things I was doing was holding me down rather than helping me!

Learn about what you are your parter are here! Learn how to make decisions together without disagreeing!

I am currently reading Strengths Finder 2.0, which has it’s own strength test inside that I can’t wait to do as well. Check out this book!
