I “met” Tracy + Minh for the first time during a video chat during July of last year. The love story too good to be true; students from two completely different areas of the country meet at their university residence outside of both of their home cities. Minh from Ottawa and Tracy from Vancouver, both meeting at the University of Toronto, Scarborough campus. Especially for Minh, as he had ACCIDENTALLY applied this campus! We were so excited to meet them officially when they drove us down to their home in Toronto for their engagement session in October. They kindly invited us into their apartment and showed us their lives.
It was a rainy morning, and I was nervous Tracy would be unsure about the day, but they both trusted us completely, as I forgot how overcast and gloomy their engagement session was! She told me, “if you could take these photos on a day like that, I have total faith in today’s as well.”
We arrived at The Westin Ottawa to the biggest hotel suite I have ever seen in my entire life. Even larger than the one we had just stayed at in Montebello! There were four rooms, not including the washrooms. She already looked like a beauty sitting up in the makeup chair, as I photographed her details from the gorgeous sparkling Jimmy Choo pumps to the colourful Brooklin Paper Co. invitation suite.
You could feel the pride in the room when her parents saw her for the first time that morning, and especially so when the doors opened to walk her down the aisle. The simplistic ceremony site left only her to be the star of the show. The rain took a small pause as we wandered the rooftop terrace of the hotel, then a slight walk down the street to the Chateau Laurier.
Tracy put so much thought into every detail with Sage Designs, even down to the adorable blue cups on the table. I laughed when Minh came into the room and said, “Wow! When we were planning, I thought..it’s a cup…but those blue cups really do make a difference!” Sometimes so many details of a wedding feel like that, but when it all comes together, it’s something spectacular.
This couple was so so good to us, as Minh checked on us throughout the day to make sure we were eating and drinking. We had to assure him many times we were fine and to go enjoy HIS day. We appreciate you both greatly and can’t wait to come visit you in Toronto again sometime soon.
