The first thing anyone would notice meeting these two is their genuine sincerity towards one another. And I genuinely feel for these two, being the same age and the same kind of relationship. The kind where you meet in the most unsuspected place and fall in love with your best friend. The way only another best friend type couple could understand how different the gaze is. I think my favourite image from the whole day is this one right here, and if you’re in that same situation, you’ll understand. The way they look at each other; it’s as if you can feel the joy and happiness in their whole lives, not just in that moment.
I was telling Max the story of how they met, and he was shocked. Both typically not the party type, Genevieve and Douglas met in a bar. She was there for a friend’s birthday and he was there with a few of his guys. She was at the bar texting and he came over to tell her that she shouldn’t be texting at the bar. He bought her a drink, and I guess I should say that the rest is history. They danced the night away, exchanged numbers, and she got a text from him as soon as the next morning. Although she ordered dessert for dinner (my kinda girl!) on their first date and he misinterpreted that as wanting to leave early, he was wrong.
He proposed to her at her family farm, set up with string twinkle lights and all; the stunning spot where we wandered for their engagement session. Still one of my faves to date! Their wedding day started as a very early morning, as they had planned a brunch-style reception. Their first look by the river went off without a hitch, followed by their sentimental ceremony at her childhood church.
They booked everything so far in advance! They took their time slowly planning because they were waiting on 2017. The year that the day they met fell on a Saturday. They tied the knot* on their 6th anniversary of meeting. Swoon! So excited to see what follows in their future and the beautiful, sincere children they will raise. Love you Genny + Doug! Congratulations!!
