Even I was so excited for this day for weeks. After working with Monique + Curtis already for their engagement session, I could just feel the difference that some couples just have. ‘Momo’ and Curt have been together for 10 years, high school sweethearts. They have that best friend type relationship that I understand through and through. I couldn’t get there soon enough. When I arrived, she was already freaking out, the way I adore seeing many brides do. Not out of nerves, but that it’s finally happening and somehow, even when the day planned to a ‘T.’ you still don’t know what to expect. She paced around the lovely log bride prep suite of Stonefields Heritage Farm all morning pondering that letter she had seen sitting on that gift for a while now, knowing she wasn’t in the state to handle that right now. Curtis has a gift that many men don’t; the gift of words. He’s a hopeless romantic, always knows what to do or say, so she knew the letter itself would have her in tears. She opened the gift to find the most gorgeous handmade box, carved wot their initials and wedding date; in it, filled with letters, photos, baseball tickets and memories that they had made together over the years, including that first letter where he tried to tell her the first time he loved her.
The boys lined up in front of the farmhouse, Curtis just so anxious for this moment, you could tell. Up came their ring bearer nephews and flower girl niece in blush, followed by Monique’s gorgeous bridesmaids, one by one, in a beautiful dusty blue. Her eyes filled with tears as she reached the end of the aisle with her dad, I’m sure, in that moment, also realizing his self-written vows would also bring her to tears. In front of their family and friends, they finally pledged themselves to each other for forever. Afterwards, their puppy, Rawly, whom I had also met at their engagement session, made his appearance for a few photos. It was a gorgeous day and the rain completely held off until everyone was in the safety of the barn for dinner; afterwards, blessed with a double rainbow.
They danced to In Case You Didn’t Know, a girl after my own heart, which had me in tears. The love in the room for these two was just unreal. Thank you, Monique + Curtis, to spend this amazing day with you and I wish nothing but the best for your future. And as Curtis’ mother said, hope grand babies soon I hope ;) Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Scurr.
