Sam and Akeem met years ago when she was looking for a substitute for her intramural basketball team. Long story short, her friend recommended Akeem, and the rest is history. They’ve been together through thick and thin, and you can just tell how accepted they are as family in each others families already. The way these families follow the Lord and treat other people, Max and I just felt so welcomed and embraced. There’s no other feeling like that when you’re serving families like the way we do on a wedding day.
Their engagement session had the grass and greenery that she knew she wasn’t going to get for her big day downtown. But she made sure to get her one “New York” style crossing the street shot.
Sam getting ready in her parents’ home, and Akeem at their brand new family home, it couldn’t have been a more sweet mix of past and present. Samantha and Akeem tied the knot* at her family church, where generations married before her, where they spoke of the kind of man that her grandfather was.
It was a whirlwind day, but we managed to whisk them off to the Natural Gallery of Canada for some portraits that Sam had her eye on since seeing Erin + Kyle’s big day on the blog.
I’ve been so excited for some time now to photograph a wedding at The Westin’s STUNNING new space, TwentyTwo, and this weekend I got to do just that. How gorgeous is this blush and gold wedding – timeless!! Being around you two all day was just to joyously contageous and we couldn’t be happier for you. Congratulations Samantha and Akeem, can’t wait to see what life entails for you.

Oh my gosh girl, you’re more than welcome. It was SUCH an amazing day and we felt so welcomed and loved by both of your families. It doesn’t feel like work when you’re recepted like that. We didn’t even want to leave at the end of the day!
